Our culture influences every single thing we do. For example,

- pushing us into certain jobs based on gender (the fact that I am qualified to teach construction is always hard to believe)
- thinking that men/women should behave in a certain way
- thinking that men/women should look a certain way. We VERY rarely see unretouched pictures in the media unless celebrities specifically request that they are released

Religion Question of the Week (6):
Sometimes it is very clear if a relationship is healthy or unhealthy. Sometimes it can be harder to tell or we may not be able to clearly see our own relationships. Sometimes everything looks great from the outside, from social media, etc but this is not an accurate reflection of what actually happens. Healthy and unhealthy relationships are discussed a lot more now than they were in the past but the media still portrays unhealthy in a positive light sometimes. "As much as we love ‘em, a lot of our favorite movies, songs, video games, etc. are failing miserably when it comes to depicting relationships in a realistic and healthy way. There’s a widespread misconception in media that drama = passion and possessiveness = caring, and while those ideas may look romantic on the big screen, in the real world they are anything but. Religion Question of the Week (4):
Each person has their own set of values. Your values can be passed on by your family and friends or the result of your own experiences. My personal values include:
- acceptance of everyone : I have some pretty bad anxiety and it made it very difficult for me during school as many people did not understand. Many of my family and friends still don't quite understand as it is not logical but making an effort helps.
- education: My family was not well off and we struggled for many years. I realized that a good education can help you get a job during hard economic times.
- kindness: I always notice when people are rude or don't use manners. I worked in customer service and had some customers who treated me terribly because they simply thought they were better than me due to my job.
- Open-mindedness: It bothers me when people think that their beliefs are the only way of thinking (this is in regards to many things such as religion, opinions, social roles, gender norms, etc.) I may not agree with your opinion or belief but I like to be able to discuss our reasons in a calm manner.
